City held by in-form Vics
YORK City let a lead slip for the second time in four days as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Northwich Victoria.
Striker Richard Brodie put City ahead on 11 minutes - as he had at Rushden on Saturday - but Michael Byrne levelled with 16 minutes to go.
The KitKat Crescent result leaves City 15 points adrift of the Blue Square Premier play-off zone.

''in form vics'' !!! they were awful (apart from Mullan) but they were better than us. that was embarrasing. if i was a neutral and paid £10 a month for Setanta, would want a refund. Elliot unbeleivably awful, purkiss- dreadful, dosent move forward (Lloyd is by far a better option) i could go on, probably easier to say who played well.... erm???

Disappointing yet again, the team seem to think they do enough by scoring and then stand off believing that the opposition don't have the ability to score.
The midfield do not inspire we stand off the opposition midfield far too often, we are second in the tackle and don't seem to be able to dominate.
Sodje looked poor, Woolford lacked any quality.
Brodie tried hard an was unlucky on ocassions.
McGurk again head and shoulders above the rest.

And which comedians gave Panther man of the match I wonder?! Brodie and McGurk were far far better tonight, but overall we must do much better than this.

First half, okay, Brodie excellent till he got his injury, whatever that was.
Elliott appalling, Sodje not interested. Woolford in-and-out of the match.
McGurk excellent, the rest of the defence fairly poor. Evans solid bar the dodgy kick.
Second half, we were just awful. And Walker's tactical switch was ill-advised.
If LFW is coming on, then you need wingers. Not some Chelsea-esque 451/433 thing with poor Brodie and Sodje trying to play out wide. LFW actually did a pretty decent job, but the service was appalling and only Brodie had any desire to make something happen.
The biggest problem is that too many of our players suffer from "killer pass syndrome", were instead of the open, obvious,e asy choice, they try the over-complicated and give the ball away.
We had to keep the ball better, and we failed not because of Northwich's pressing, but because of our own bad choices.
Some credit to Northwich, they did try play some decent football and were pretty good in the second half. I really thought we were going to lose it.

considering Walker was a centre forward, we dont look like we have much idea. a great first goal and then very little else. Sodje dosent look like he has any idea, where has his pace or touch gone, Brodie works hard, not a natural but at least he tries.

A very poor second half performance. Season now over for sure. Positives, McGurk superb, Brodie getting better by the game and was man of the match for me not Panther. Wooly well marked all night. Negatives, Elliott woeful, Evans very very dodgy again although he did make a great save at the end. Col's substitution changed the game, we were coasting at 3,5,2. LFW must be the worst forward to wear a City shirt in years. Players to go at season end, Evans, Beadle, Craddock, Rusk, Elliott, Donkey West and I would also let Farrell go too. We defo need a new keeper, a big centre Half, a strong central midfielder, right winger and a proven striker. Hope Col can do the deals and get us up next season.

I don't see how you blame LFW for any of that, he did about as well as could be expected in that 20 minutes, considering the ridiculous system Walker switched to.
If you introduce a player like that, you HAVE to go 442 and get Wooly out wide. Using Brodie and Sodje as fill-ins, as hard as Brodie tried, just won't cut it.
Agree on Brodie though, he's starting to show why some people think he can make the grade. I personally think if we hang on to him, we will be glad of it next season.

Central midfield looked very pedestrian. Wroe and Elliot have no pace and seem to want to play hollywood balls everytime rather than run with it. We need an attack minded central midfielder who will make late runs into the box. However it was pleasing to see young Brodie play well, I thought his movement to take up space out wide was a big improvement, although we were often left with only Sodje in the box. The tactical change completely back fired and seemed unecessary, however hindsight is a wonderful thing.

He was a good player in his day and would have been a great signing 5/6 years ago. Brodie is showing bags of promise tho'. It's fair to say Col messed it up tonight. Also, agree about Purkiss who should be released too. Lets stay positive, it's been a big improvement overall since November, hope Col gets the signings needed for a promotion push next season.

To say they had talked the talk about still pushing for the play-offs they played like they were all thinking about where to holiday this summer.
Changes are needed. Panther looks a shadow of his former self, while the need for someone to play on the right wing is glaring. Brodie continues to improve but there is a need for an experienced striker with a physical presence. These final few weeks should see who actually wants a new contract and who is just playing out time until the season is over.

I agree it was a poor showing today, but Northwich were here tonight for a draw and nothinf more, they sat back and played the long ball whenever possible. They had one genuine player in mullen but apart from that they had nothing. Thought TY, Brodie and Craddock played well, Robbo and Wolly showed the odd signs of class, Manny still hasn't recovered from whatever if was keeping him out and he looked 2 yards off the pace.
Other than that though again the City support is appauling, the booing at the full time whistle was not called for. Okay wasn't the best performance but seems everyone forgets we are still unbeaten at home under Walker and have only lost twice in the league. Yes there is work to be done but there is also alot of work to be done with the so called 'fans', I think half of the time they want the team to play bad for something to moan at.

Held at home by an in form 'PART TIME FOOTBALL TEAM'.
No disrespect to you Yorkie, but our club are lucky that anyone is bothering their ar*e paying good money to actually turn up to boo them off at fulltime.
Though if I was back home they would still get my support.

I agree it was a bad performance but the fans need to get behind the team from the first whistle to the last.
The Northwich fans were going mental from start to finish and were making more noise than the 1900 York fans at times.
