Grim luck for City reserves
A deserved share of the spoils was denied York City Reserves as they fell to a 1-0 Pontin's Holidays League division one East defeat at Grimsby Town last night.
City fielded three senior pros in Anthony Lloyd, Simon Rusk and Leo Fortune-West and when they were removed after an hour, the City visitors comprised just youngsters.
Said reserve team manager and first-team assistant coach Eric Winstanley: "It was tough on the young lads. They at least merited a draw from what was a very good performance."
Had luck been in City's favour they would have been ahead before the Mariners, who fielded a sprinkling of senior players, broke the deadlock in the 76th minute.
Midfielder Rusk lashed in a fierce shot which came back off the crossbar, while John Radcliffe saw an effort cannon off a post for Danny Stimpson to blaze a sitter high over the woodwork.

He's called Josh actually, not John.
