A 36-YEAR-OLD York woman cyclist was killed in a smash on the A64.
The accident happened when a group of cyclists were turning right across the busy road from Scarborough to York turning down Scotchman Lane, pictured, towards Flaxton village.
The cyclists had entered the chevroned area when a car towing a caravan collided with one of the cyclists waiting to join the rest of the group.
Ambulance and police attended the scene and the woman was taken to York Hospital with serious head injuries and later died.
The accident, which happened at 1pm yesterday, closed the road which led to lengthy tailbacks.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to phone 0845 6060247.
