Lorry crash causes delay
RUSH-HOUR commuters faced long delays on a busy North Yorkshire road this morning after a lorry crashed into a field.
The accident happened just after 7am today on the A1079 at Market Weighton Hill and left a large crane which the stricken truck had been carrying towards York lying across part of the road.
The section of the A1079 was not closed as removal teams were called in to take the crashed lorry, which landed in a field next to the road, and the crane away from the scene, but large queues began to form in the area north of Market Weighton because of the blockage.
The male driver of the lorry was not injured in the accident and no other vehicles were involved.

It must be a cheerful lorry that crashed seeing as how it is only causing commuter "delays rather than commuter "misery".

Splitting hairs - the accident was in Humberside, true, but the A1079 is a major road in NYorks, and any effects would extend towards York.

[/quote] No it's not splitting hairs Market Weighton is nearly 20 miles into the East Riding of Yorkshire. A county which the supposed local paper does not know exists.

To be fair, didnt appear that bad. And just to let everyone know, the 1079 appears to be no mans land between The Press and The Hull Daily Mail, both report the same news on anything that occurs on the roads between the two.
As far as the accident goes, all looked well controlled and no more of a tailback than usual by the time I passed by at 8.15 this morning. Not quite sure how the lorry ended up where it was though, shouldve had my camera.
