THIS is what York's newest nightclub Tru looks like inside ahead of its official opening on Friday night.

These are the first images of what the York nightclub will look like after a £1 million facelift.

Management at the new night spot, formerly Toffs in Toft Green, have unveiled to The Press what customers can expect from the £1m refurbishment.

General manager, Chris Bateman, said everything was going to plan ahead of tomorrow night.

He said: "Everything is coming on as it should be, we're just sprinkling the pixie dust.

"We have got a big bank holiday weekend coming up for us with a VIP night on Friday night and on May 29 we are launching our over 25s night for the more mature and discerning clubber.

"It's a fantastic venue and I'm proud to be selected by Luminar to manage it. It's been a great deal of hard work, but the end result is worth it.

"Customers should really start to get excited, as this is going to be a special venue for relaxing with friends or having a good time on the dance floor."

As well as a new look to the venue, the investment has been spread across state-of-the-art lighting and sound to deliver the overall customer experience.

One of the key features at the venue will be the VIP booth areas that management are hiring out to give parties and celebrations an added touch of class.

Mr Bateman said: "If you're looking to impress someone or give them an evening they won't forget, then these booths have it all, starting at varying package offers.

"We have already received calls booking them for the opening weekends and we expect them to be a massive hit with our regulars."

The club will offer a number of different events and music genres, including chart, party, R'n'B, funky house, indie, 1970s and 1980s disco, and Northern Soul.

Tomorrow, the club is open from 9pm to 10pm for ticket only VIP guests, and from 10pm to 11pm it is free for members of the public.

Admission after that will be £3 before midnight and £5 after midnight.

will it really rival leeds though? NO it wont. york needs a dance music club not cheesy pop and commercial dance that suddenly changes to slow rubbish and boring (RnB).perfect example is syndicate in blackpool.largest club in uk (4000 People) and rammed every saturday night cos of mostly named or famous dj's there. Like waynes world 'IF YOU BOOK THEM THEY WILL COME'

I was there last night. Main room looks great, the cafe bar looks ok but not great (kind of like a poor-man's Reflex, and far too light), and upstairs has had very little done to it apart from changing the seating. Bits of the club look decidedly unfinished (stairs next to smoking area, area where cafe bar DJ booth used to be), but apparently are being left like that. Also the fire alarm set off about 10pm, I do hope that's not going to be a regular feature!

I really liked the dancefloors downstairs, the whole place looked much better than it used to, but I can't imagine it'll stay like that for long.

I have no idea what the hotdog stand was doing there, if it's a regular thing or if it was just there for one night, but it did make the club stink!

The red thing in the photo looks decidedly satanic... Never saw that last nigth tho so it might just be a bad picture.

Do you work for Toffs, sorry "Tru"??
Or, are you a Press journalist with such unfounded and obviously wrong information.

I find this hard to believe.
Always been cack, always will be.
As rightly pointed out, you can't polish a turd.

I can't see it doing any better than when it was Toffs, they'll get the same clientele. Anyway, with Nexus reopening soon I can't see it competing with that!

So it is - I really didn't notice the story because of the strap line - "business as usual". I must be blind!

I notice that they give virtually no details and as there are no comment facilities, I can only assume that at some point soon they will remove my comments from this link!!

It'll still be Toffs no matter what they rename it and after a couple of months of druken revellers, the interior will look exactly the same as it did before!!

On a completely unrelated point, has anyone noticed the gaggle of journalists picketing outside the Press offices this morning - they appear to be on strike? The Press has been remarkably quiet about the threat of industrial action, let alone the reality of it! I wonder if it's in the paper or on the website today?!!!
