We are in the throws of seeing our politicians emerge from hibernation in their 4 yearly quest for sustenance and continued life blood for their lucrative and privileged positions as keepers of our purse and guardians of our way of life. A position which requires the trust and confidence of us all for it to work.

Our youth today learn little about real everyday life from their education. Gone are cookery, housekeeping, wood work and metal work. Several generations have missed out on schools of commerce and apprenticeships. There is no established teaching on saving, staying out of debt, budgeting and setting realistic targets in life. When they leave school, many without GCEs and the opportunity to continue in College or University, have no realistic assessment to take with them into work of their character, strengths and abilities. Yet, they are barely out of school before they are seen as suitable to fight and die for our way of life and national freedom.

We certainly did not plan to have these fungus galore as part of our summer borders. It must be time to get up early and get out in the fields for mushrooms.

Sorry about the length, I had to write it. It has been the dullest, wettest, most miserable August anyone can remember. The jobs in the garden have built up because it has been too boggy to go onto the land. On top of that, the basic costs of living have climbed to a point where many are now desperately struggling to cope. World banking services are dropping like flies and the ruling parties here and in America are deeply involved in keeping their positions of power and survival.
