A SELBY business which specialises in products for people with food intolerances is in line for a series of top awards this evening.
GF Foods Ltd, which works in the retail and wholesale of gluten, wheat and dairy products, has seen four of the products it imports from Europe short-listed for the Foods Matter Free-From Food Awards.
The categories for which the products have been short listed for are gluten- free breads for Il pane di Anna Buckwheat bread mix, gluten-free pizza for Il Pane di Anna Pizza Base Mix, gluten-free cakes, muffins and puddings for Novaldo St Honore Gateaux and the innovations award for Innofoods savoury pies and doughnuts.
The awards ceremony, organised in tandem with this week's National Allergy Week, will take place at Antony Worrall Thompson's Notting Grill in London.
Sally Allister, founder and director of GF Foods Ltd, said: "It's very exciting being shortlisted for these awards.
"Having food intolerances myself, it has always been my aim to source products of the highest quality and taste for our customers.
"I am very pleased that a prestigious magazine such as Foods Matter has recognised the quality and taste of our products.
"In addition to fulfilling the needs of our customers via our website, we actively work with hotels, restaurants and cafes, schools and universities and many other food service providers to meet the growing need for provision of special diet meals.
"To have three of our key brands shortlisted in these awards on the eve of Coeliac Awareness Week, in which we are supporting their Food Without Fear campaign, is absolutely fantastic"
GF Foods Ltd was founded by Sally and Stuart Allister in May 2004 after Sally was diagnosed with an intolerance to gluten.
Today the company sells more than 700 gluten-free products direct to the public via its website and shop in North Duffield.
It also distributes the brands it imports via health food shops, cafés, delicatessens and farm shops and manyfood service outlets.
