HIGH fashion came to the National Railway Museum in York as student designers put on a show.

York College fashion students paraded their creations on the catwalk as a finale to their National Diploma and Higher National Diploma Fashion courses yesterday.

The students' collections featured themes, ranging from Ghetto Culture to Sport Couture, and were displayed to an audience of about 200 schoolchildren from York and North Yorkshire.

Marks & Spencer sponsored the National Diploma students' "jacket project" and the Company of Merchant Taylors presented the Best Collection prizes to the Higher National Diploma students.

Also, nine Foundation Degree students exhibited their mini spring summer collections, which have been sponsored by Noa Noa in York's Low Petergate.

Marie Neal-Smith, fashion tutor at the college, said: "All the students have worked extremely hard and their collections were varied.

"Some have chosen quite personal themes and this was reflected in the collections on the catwalk."
