A HUNDRED young violin, viola and cello players from York primary schools attended the 11th String Fun Day.

The popular annual event is organised by City of York Council’s arts education team and this year was held at Yearsley Grove Primary School.

The highlight of both days was the informal concerts for family and friends.

Wes Lawrance, City of York Council’s arts education manager, said: “For many young people, this event demonstrates the success of a year’s progress on their instrument, and provides them with the opportunity to enjoy playing in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.”
