IT'S the most important meal of the day.

Youngsters from Poppleton Road Primary School tucked into a big breakfast ahead of their standard assessment tests.

They also listened to music from Westlife while enjoying the meal.

A total of 50 pupils at the school arrived at 8am each day for a wholesome meal, prepared by school chef Sandra Ward.

Head teacher Sue Eland said: "Having a good breakfast makes all the difference to being ready to learn. Our children have all arrived on time, there's been a great team spirit and our staff helpers have enjoyed a big breakfast too.

"Like all schools, we want our children to do the best they can.

"Fingers crossed, Poppleton Road children have had enough fuel to help them motor their way through their assessment tests."
