SOUTH Indian classical - or carnatic - vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan performs at the National Centre for Early Music, York, tomorrow at 7.30pm.

He will be accompanied by S Varadarajan on violin; Neyveli Venkatesh on mridangam and R N Prakash on ghatam, a clay pot.

Subrahmanyan started learning music at seven, later switching form violin to vocal music, and his songs are fresh, imaginative and innovative.
