New recruits are required to work alongside Paul Richardson on set construction for York Opera’s autumn production, Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeomen Of The Guard.
The wardrobe department under Maggie Soper is on the lookout for new helpers too. Some costumes will be hired, but Maggie is looking to make or assemble several outfits from the Tudor (Henry VIII) period and would welcome more assistants.
Anyone interested in these areas of theatre work should contact York Opera as soon as possible. For more details and contact numbers, please email yeomen@yorkopera.org or ring York Opera on 01904 637069.
The set is already under construction, designed by professional artist Irma Gemmell, previously creator of the sets for York Opera’s productions of Iolanthe and The Sorcerer at York Theatre Royal. Chorus rehearsals are well underway, and principal roles have been cast.
York Opera will round off their season of English operas with The Yeomen Of The Guard in the Theatre Royal from October 21 to 25. Box office: 01904 623568.
